This dataset contains time-stamped electro-thermal measurements and trip event records from hydroelectric generating units at the Jirau Hydroelectric Power Plant, covering the period from 2023 to 2025.
The dataset was collected and organized within the scope of the SMARTUG Project, entitled “Development of a Smart Online Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis System for Cooling Fans of Generating Units”, under ANEEL R&D Code PD-06631-0016-2023, developed in partnership with Jirau Energia and Fundação Aroeira. The dataset construction is directly associated with the research and development activities carried out in this project, aiming to support scientific studies on condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and early warning systems for hydroelectric generating units.
The data were extracted from the PI System and include time series of operational electro-thermal variables, such as frequency, active power, reactive power, phase current, and temperature measurements associated with relevant components of the cooling system and stator. Specifically, the temperature-related variables include measurements from the heat exchanger, radiator, stator slots, stator windings, and stator core. In addition, the dataset includes a complementary event file containing time-stamped shutdown/trip occurrences and their corresponding operational classifications.
The dataset is composed of two main files: (i) a time-series file containing electro-thermal operational measurements of the generating units, and (ii) an event log file containing trip occurrences associated with timestamps and unit identifiers. Together, these files enable the investigation of thermal and electrical behavior preceding trip events, as well as the development and validation of data-driven and machine learning approaches for anomaly detection and fault prediction in hydropower generation systems.
